About

I was born in Kansas City, educated in Boston, and now call San Francisco home. I have a computer science degree from MIT and get most excited by good design and businesses that make the world a better place.

I spend most of my time working on EveryArt, a company I founded to bring the joy of commissioning original art to more people. Before EveryArt, I co-founded a company called Lingt with Chris Varenhorst where we built software to help people learn foreign languages. Lingt was named the coolest college startup of 2009 by Inc Magazine and acquired by Dictionary.com in 2010.

I am a YCombinator alum,  a MITX Future Boston Leader, and have given guest lectures at MIT on entrepreneurship. The accomplishments I am most proud of include shipping a computer lab across the Atlantic to Malawi and my investigative work with the Uyghur diaspora in Kazakhstan.

I’m a passionate and lifelong fan of the arts. Other things that I love: running, tennis, Celtic fiddle, language, electronic music, and long windy roads on my motorcycle.
